  1. Years ago when i got clean & sober, i changed my family name (i detest the term "maiden name") to my mother's family name. After years of living on the dark side, i needed a fresh start. i loved my father & all my relations who share his family's name, so nothing against him/them. Over the years different friends gave me birthday cards featuring a specific animal. None of these friends knew each other & i never mentioned any affinity toward this animal. Five years ago i (finally) met my love whose family name happens to be this animal. Yes, i took his family name, although at work i sometimes still use my (mother's) family name.

  2. As a women, we have no choice but to change our last name if we did got marriage. Some think twice if they don't want the last name of their partner. But for me their last name is not so important, but what we feel.
